Description

The Senior Land Representative will represent the Foundation’s interests as a lessor in negotiating leases and business agreements for exploration and development of minerals, as well as negotiating surface use agreements and coordinating their enforcement. In addition, the Senior Land Representative will monitor available land and mineral opportunities and solicit new acquisition opportunities within the Foundation’s areas of interest. Responsibilities will also include maintaining the Foundation’s land ownership records. The Senior Land Representative will work closely as a team member with other Foundation staff as well as staff of the Foundation’s wholly owned subsidiary, East Foundation Ranches, LLC, to contribute to research, education and outreach efforts.
The preferred candidate should have excellent communication skills, record keeping experience, business and common sense, work ethic and education. The candidate should have knowledge and experience in the use of computers and software programs such as Excel and Word. Technical skills in mapping/GPS/GIS are desirable. The ideal candidate will have experience working with contractors and performing his/her duties in a courteous and professional manner. The candidate must be able to communicate equally well with ranch staff, university researchers, and technicians. This position takes a strong work ethic and willingness to put in extra effort in performing duties. Overnight travel is required.
1. At least ten (10) years’ experience as a landman with at least five (5) years’ experience as an in-house land man or equivalent position.
2. Bachelor’s degree and RPL Certified (CPL Certification a plus).
3. Possess an advanced understanding of oil and gas lease forms, surface use agreements, and various negotiated contracts typically used in exploration and development activities. Also has significant experience in the negotiation of these agreements, with some experience in negotiating on behalf of a lessor.
4. Experienced in determining mineral ownerships through the research of public and private records.
5. Demonstrated ability and track record of negotiating acquisitions, including both surface and mineral interests.
