We are looking for someone to join our Legal department as a full-time property Abstractor. The ideal candidate will have previous experience researching title ownership and property details, comparing property mapping, and coordinating with local government agencies to successfully perform property abstracts. They will also be self-motivated but able to work with a team, highly organized and analytical, and have an interest in real estate.

Responsibilities:
• Research government documents to curate title reports on CivicSource property lists
• Analyze ownership history of parcel land, (i.e. mortgages, easements, restrictions, encumbrances, etc.)
• Calculate ownership interest of properties
• Determine the impact of documented ownership history on a given property
• Manage a team of third party abstractors
• Record accurate information pertaining to properties to relay to Legal team
• Coordinate with Data Acquisitions team to resolve any property detail issues
• Assist staff lawyers with outside projects, as needed, which may involve legal research and local travel
• Utilize Administrator, CivicSource software, to retain and track property details over time

Qualifications:
• Top-notch using analytical skills to make judgment about property documents
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and requiring minimal supervision
• Ability to meet strict, tight deadlines while managing multiple projects to ensure timely delivery
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with a diverse group of people

Experience:
• Experience researching property/title documents at parish/local government ¬– required
• Experience using Data Trace or other similar data tracking software – preferred
• High school diploma or higher – required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, analytics, or another similar field – preferred

Compensation:

Must possess valid driver’s license. Position requires local travel.
